Detailed description of Wintergreen Resort, Devils Knob Course
Devils Knob Course At Wintergreen Resort, is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Nellysford, Virginia.
Devils Knob holds the distinction of being the highest course (elevation) in Virginia at an elevation of 3,850 feet. This course first opened for play in 1977. It was designed by Ellis Maples. Located on a mountain the course offers views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance
The greens ar small averaging only 3,200 square feet. The fairways are narrow and tree lined. This course plays to 6,576-yards from the farthest tees. The other two tee boxes are set at 6,003 yards and 5,060 yards. Water comes into play on five holes.
Winter Green Resort is also home to the Stoney Creek Course - a 27-hole facility.

This golf course was fantastic... An Ellis Maples Masterpiece sitting atop the highest mountain in Virginia... Stepping up on the 16th tee box you can see for 70 miles... WOW... A Diamond in the rough.. Staff was fantastic and very customer oriented. Best conditioned golf course I played all year... over Congressional, RTJ, and Pinehurst.
